It all started with the feeling of sand in my eye. I’ve had that before. It was pink eye then, but this time it was different. My eye wasn’t pink, just uncontrollably watery & it felt like sand was in there. It lasted a few days & was gone, so I left it at that. When it happened again in the other eye I assumed it would go away just as quickly & I was right. Thinking back, I’m not sure how many times I got this ‘sand in the eye’ feeling that month. Three, Four? No more than 4 I think. What did start worrying me was when my vision got cloudy & wouldn’t clear even after I self medicated with pink eye drops. (I thought maybe it was a residual symptom of pink eye & so I did what no one should ever do…. I made a totally uneducated guess & bought some medicine I thought may do the trick).
It was now over a month that I couldn’t see properly out of one eye & I couldn’t ignore it anymore. It was like a huge smudge was on my contact lenses (yes I was still wearing my contacts). I decided that it was probably time to see a professional, even a close friend who is an optometrist thought that was a brilliant idea
. I made the appointment.
2 days later I walked out with a prescription for an anti~inflamatory eye drop & a referral to a Optomologist. It sounded serious. I have to admit that I was getting really worried. Was I going to lose the vision in that eye? What had I done?
3 days on the drops (with no change) & I was in to see the specialist (that’s one of the nice things about living on a small island, no long waits to see people!) As I sat waiting in the waiting room I picked up a magazine.
It was one of those mindless magazines, you know the kind with hundreds of pages of ads & no real articles (not that I read the articles either
). Then, all of a sudden, on about page 560, there it was. An Article. It was about a lady who was having strange symptoms all associated with inflammation.
It was in her eye, her joints, her mouth…. So what did she do? She detoxed (of some sort, I didn’t really read the rest because I was called in to see the Optomologist).
Now if you know me, you’ll know I’m all about ‘coincidences’, ‘signs’ & things happening for a reason, so I wondered……
Then I passed out.
whaaaaaat?
Ok, let me go back a few minutes.
After reading a big chunk of the article, I went in & sat in the big ‘Eye Chair’. He looked in both eyes & decided that I need to have these numbing eye drops. I didn’t really think much of it, but strangely enough I felt the need to mention that this one time at an eye appointment, the lady touched my eye & I nearly fainted! He smiled & told me I’d be fine.
So in go the drops & I feel the strange effect it has on my eyes. He asks me to sit up, lean forward & hold onto the arm bars tightly. One eye done he says, I’m doing great. I’m not really sure what he did to that eye, but the next thing I know….
BLACK
I’m slowly opening my eyes from a horizontal position. It’s dark & I’m so disoriented. My head is ringing & I’m sweaty. I can hear the doctor saying something but I have no clue what it is. Wow.
What the H*LL right!
Sweetly he tells me that he gets at least one fainter a month. Glad to help him with his quota!
Super long & Totally embarrassing story made short, I have an eye infection. More Specifically I have the virus ‘Herpes’ in my eye.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?
Ok, well. I think I’m making this sound worse, & a bit more gross than it really is (I hope). The Herpes virus is part of the exact same family as Canker sores (& no I’ve never had a Canker Sore~ strange right). Apparently nearly everyone in the world has this virus floating around in their bod’s, but some are lucky enough to never get any symptoms.
Why then am I? And Why now?
Viruses like to attack when we are at low points. When we are a bit less Healthy, more Acidic inside, Stressed, Under more than Normal pressures at work or home. They hit us when we’re down & can’t fend them off. So for me it could be all the stress (moving around the country, working full time for the first time in 8 years, etc, etc), the different water (we’re having serious issues with our water supply here), not so healthy food (although still vegetarian, we are more acidic), altitude, humidity, & oh, did I mention stress
Stress. Stress. Stress. This is number one. It goes hand in hand with our Health. If we are stressed, we are not healthy (although Healthy Stress is ok). Stress in General is not.
The 3 Major causes of Acidity in our bod’s are:
- Eating acidic foods such as meats, dairy, sugar and refined grains (although we aren’t eating meats or seafood, we have ‘indulged’ in some cheese & breads)
- Extreme physical exertion (I did just do my first 10k & 1/2 Marathon ever in the last few months)
- Emotional and mental stress (umm, moving 1/2 way across the country with 2 kids, a cat, no jobs or place to call home…..)
So now I’m on eye drops to help the Inflammation & Virus. These drops need to be taken pretty religiously, & I can’t stop taking them abruptly otherwise it may relapse. I hate taking med’s, but I really don’t have any choice right now. I do however have the option to ‘detox’ myself. Inflammation loves an acidic environment, & it’s obvious that my bod is more acidic then it should be. We’ve kinda been ‘treating’ ourselves with a bit too much of cheese & baking. We’re not eating as healthy as I know we can….
So what’s a detox loving specialist to do?
A DETOX (of course)
5 days of Lemonade (to alkaline & cleanse the bod of Acid lovin’ dis~eases)
5 days of Lemonade/Juicing (to pump up the nutrients in my cleaned up bod)
5 days of Lemonade & easing into Greens & Smoothies!
*On an additional note, I am also adding in a very important Amino Acid to my daily Supplement list. L~Lysine is the Amino Acid that is instrumental in helping to control the Herpes Simplex Virus in us. While taking the prescribed medication to destroy the virus, I’m also doing all that I can naturally to help support my body to fight it too.
Taking a step back & remembering to listen to my bod is a HUGE step. Our bodies tell us everything we need to know about ourselves, what we need & what we should be doing. In the rush~rush of our hectic lives, we tend to hush up our bodies voice with sugar, caffeine, pills & more. But we all know these are band~aids & are not really helping or healing.
Detoxing is an amazing option that can help rid us of a host of illnesses & dis~eases, there is also a huge selection of different supplemets that can help by supporting our bodies natural fight. There are many different types, durations, intensities, etc…. Talking with someone who knows & wants to helpĀ (hint hint, me
) is very important when starting a detox. They should not be taken lightly.
Please search my site for more Detox information or contact me directly. I’d love to help!
