Flax (Linseeds)
What is it?
Flax is a Mediterranean plant. The seeds look like Apple seeds only flatter. Flax Colours range from Dark Brown, Deep Red, to a Golden Yellow.

Flax seeds are pumped full of Omega 3′s, in fact, the best Vegan Source of Omega 3′s. Flax also has a wonderful source of Dietary Fibre, Magnesium, Potassium & Manganese, Phosphorus, Iron, Vitamin E, Calcium & Copper.

Because it’s such a tremendous Omega 3 source, Flax benefits include reducing Heart Dis~ease, Breast & Prostate Cancer. It’s Fibre source helps keep up clean & running smoothly.
Best way to buy it?
Flax Seeds should be ground in order to receive all the benefits as the body can not breakdown the tiny seeds. Try to find Organic Flax meal or Grind your own fresh. Always keep it refrigerated to prevent it from going rancid.
Best way to use it?
Flax can be used in any way you want, it’s one of the best things about it. Add it to smoothies, water, juice, shakes. Sprinkle it on Salads, Soups, Stir fry, Cereal. Use it as a coating for tofu. Include it in any baking. Replace an egg for 1Tbsp of Flax mixed in 2Tbsp of warm water. Flax Oil is also a great way to get it’s nutrients, just be sure to keep it in the Fridge after it’s been opened.

Flax contains Oxalate, which can cause Oxalate containing Kidney stones in those susceptible. Caution should be taken.
