Lemons & Limes

Lemons & Limes

What are they?

Lemons & Limes are Citrus Fruits grown on Trees.

What’s in them?

Lemons & Limes are filled with Vitamin C, they have good amounts of B6, Potassium, Folic Acid & the all important Phytochemical Limonene.

What do they do for us?

These tiny sour tasting fruits properties include being Anti~Cancer, Anti~Bacterial, Anti~Viral, & Anti~Biotic (Limes). Lemons & Limes are also tauted as being one of the Best (if not the Best) Alkalizing Foods out there. They are wonderful at Cleaning & De~odarizing not just countertops, but our bodies as well :)

Best way to buy them?

When buying Lemons or Limes pick only the ones that feel heavy for their size. Bright colours without spots or marks are better. Organic is not necessary with these Citrus fruits (unless you are using the rind, then Organic is highly recommended).

Best way to use them?

Limes & Lemons are quite versatile. The juice goes well in Salad dressings, Rice, & most Vegetables. Adding to fresh Juices or in plain Filtered water is a nice Alkalizing addition. The rind is wonderful in cookies, breads, cakes, rice, etc. If you fear they may go bad (they will last 1-2 weeks on the counter out of the sun), juice & freeze them in ice~cube trays for later use.

Special Notices:

For individuals prone to Oxalate~containing Kidney Stones, care must be taken when eating too much of the peel. As well, individuals with Vitamin A absorption issues should beware that the peels can interfere with absorption even more.
