Turmeric:

What is it?

An ancient Spice from the Ginger Family. It’s a Knobby Root Tuber that has a tough but thin skin.

What does it do for us?

Turmeric has fabulous Anti~inflammatory properties (inside & outside the body), its noted to work better (& without any side~effects) then Ibuprofen & many other harsh Pain~Relieving Medicines. It has incredible Anti~oxidant properties, particularly in the protection from Free Radicals as well, it provides superb protection of the Colon lining. Turmeric has a very intimate relationship with DNA, can help destroy Cancer Cells & Cancer causing compounds while it increases the body’s production of Cancer fighting compounds. Turmeric also plays a significant role in Liver Detoxification, may help prevent Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MS, & other Brain Related Dis~eases.

Best way to buy it?

Turmeric is most commonly bought as a powder, but can also be found as a Rhizome (root). It looks just like Ginger, but has a deep orange flesh. Organic is important with Turmeric as is buying & using it Fresh.

Best way to use it?

Freshly grated, sliced or chopped in tea, stir~fries, soups, stews, salads & more. It is the main component in Curry powders & mustard. It goes well in nearly any rice or egg dish.

Special Notices:

Turmeric’s deep yellow/orange colour can permanently stain anything a lighter colour then it (including countertops, clothing, dishes, etc). Take care.
