Foodie PenPal Day!

Well, here it is again. Foodie PenPal Reveal day. I have to say that this is a real fun thing to do every month, but sadly I will be taking the summer off from it.

😦 BOO

I just have so many things going that I can’t find the time for, somethings need to take a backseat. Know what I mean?

At any rate. This month I sent some stuff to Farah at scribblesfromashahzadi. And I got a package from Helene from Healthy Frenchie. Helene was so sweet to send me this nice box!

It still surprises me every month how people can send you things that are just perfect for you!

Brown Rice Syrup, Organic Crystalized Ginger, Tomato~Garlice Antipasto & Amaranth 🙂

I’ve never NEVER tried Brown Rice Syrup. Isn’t that strange? I mean come on! Never!!! I am now on the look~out for the very best, top of the class recipe for this sweet sweet stuff! Anyone out there wanna share one?

Also another staple we’ve never tried is Amaranth! As Gluten free (most of the time) Vegans (as best as we can be), it’s pretty strange that we’ve never had this! I’m making it tonight to see how we like it (or love it!)

Crystalized Ginger is a Family Favorite here. We use it for Stomach aches, sometimes when we travel long distances, after a heavy meal or just as a nice spicy little treat! These went straight into the snack cupboard (after we each tried a piece~ YUMMY!)

The Tomato & Garlic Antipasto was such a nice surprise. I don’t buy stuff like that too often because it’s just too expensive (in my opinion). But having someone treat you to it is another story! I grabbed a handful of crackers & cracked that jar open.

I’ll admit that it was very tomato~y. Not bad, but not the kind of thing for Crackers 😉 Good thing we were having Pizza that night! I thought it would be perfect!

How yummy does that look?

Topped off with Fresh Market Chard, I was in heaven!

So I was right. It was the PERECT thing for pizza, it’s going to be hard to go back to regular pizza sauce!

My Foodie PenPals Package was super wonderful this month. Thank you so much Helene for thinking of such great things to send me. I’m really hoping this summer goes by without too much sadness of missing out on this. But I shall be back in October for more!

And now it’s time for some details about Foodie Penpals. In case you’re a new reader, here’s a reminder of what the program is all about: If you want more information Please see Lindsey’s site Lean Green Bean :
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for May, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by May 4th as pairings will be emailed on May 5th!
*If you’re from somewhere besides the US, Canada or Europe and want to participate, send me an email and I’ll see if we get enough interest this month!

Tea’s on!

I love me a good mug of tea. Green Tea, Lavender Tea, PassionFlower Tea, Ginger Tea. You name it, & I’ll probably love it! I prefer Loose Tea to Tea Bags, I just have this feeling like it’s much more ‘Real’, not just ground up flakes. It’s also pretty cool to see all those leaves & petals floating around. Sight & Smell is all around better with Loose Tea.

So when I found out that Mountain Rose Herbs had done some amazing Transformations on their Tea line, I had to see for myself! Here’s what they have to say about it:
