My daily tea ritual

Most every morning I have this. I love it. Such a nice change from coffee! There are so (SO) many health benefits to adding both Tumeric and Cinnamon to your day (cancer fighting, tumor fighting, anti-inflammatory), and more….
here is what I do…

Get your mug and tea bag (I’m using Tazo Zen Tea)

Add just boiled water

Add some tumeric

stir in some cinnamon (or add a stick of cinnamon, it’s pretty)

Drink it up!!

I’ve battled back & forth in my head about sharing this recipe with you all or making billions of dollars on it ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ve decided that sharing it with you, all my loyal readers, is totally the best way to go!

I love this recipe for a few reasons.

#1~ it’s totally simple. The ingredients are few & the actual way to make it is easy~peasy!

#2~ the ingredients are completely healthy! Whaaaat? Healthy Chocolate? YUP!

#3~ you can personalize it to your hearts content!

Okay. Deep Breathe. Here is goes!!!

(pls note: I’ve had to make small changes due to the fact that our stove/oven is BROKEN!!!!)

Get your ingredients ready!

1/3 Cup Coconut Oil

1/2 Cup Choice of Chocolate

Mix & Melt together

I usually do this on the stove, but today I had to use our mini~oven (pretty inventive right?) I had to keep an extra close eye on it, I really dis~like the taste of burnt chocolate. When it’s nice & melted you need to add in some

1/2 Cup Maple Syrup!

(aprox, depending on if you’ve used sweetened Chocolate or not~ I use unsweetened, so adjust to your tastes)

While this is all melting & mixing keep your fingers out of the pot taste~testing by getting your mini cupcake holders ready. Plain, with treats, it doesn’t matter~ they’re all good!!!

Currants or Dried Fruits?

Anything your Heart desires! Why not add a small scoop of Peanut Butter, Candy Canes… the list can go on & on!

Once you have filled your mini~cupcake liners to 3/4 full, throw these sweet~hearts in the Fridge. Let them cool at least 25-30 minutes before you pop them in your mouth & let then melt!

If serving them, leave them refrigerated until ready to eat, these babies will start thawing soon, so don’t keep them out too long. If you’re taking them somewhere, make sure they get put in a cooler or something! If all else fails & they start melting, eat up!!

Quick Mini~Muffins (& they’re healthy to boot)!

Since my mini~detox has been over I’ve had a mini craving, not a craving for sugar (like pop or candy), but definitely a craving for something sweet. I consider things like Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Pears or Apples to be Healthy Sweet Treats. I scoured the web for some sort of Healthy Cookie/Muffinย  kind of recipe & finally took a bit of this recipe & a bit of this one, as well as substituting some ingredients I was missing for ones I had.ย  Let’s see if I can put~down what I did ๐Ÿ˜‰

I started with a big bowl & mixed together:

1 3/4 cups of ChickPea Flour

1/2 Cup Unpacked Brown Sugar

1 tsp Baking Powder

1 1/3 cups of a mixture of Sunflower & Pumpkin Seeds

2 tsp Cinnamon

1 tsp Nutmeg

1 tsp Salt

I also mixed together these in a bowl & let it sit for a while:

1 Banana mashed

Chia~Egg (1TBSp Chia with 2 TBSp Warm Water)

1 1/4 cup of Vanilla Rice Milk

As I was mixing all of these together I was also heating over Low heat:
1 Chopped Apple

1 Grated Pear

1/4 cup Maple Syrup

When all my mixing was done I realized that the cookies I thought I was be making just wouldn’t work out, they were waaaay tooooo runny.


I put them in the mini cupcake holders & baked them like that instead!

350*F for aprox 8-10 minutes

When you’re trying to get muffins out of the Tins & they’re piping hot ~ try using a chop~stick…

Then let them cool, & enjoy!!

*remember, these are mini~muffins, so you can totally enjoy 3 or 4 at a time!!!


Chia~ also know as one of Natures super food, is rightly named! It is gluten-free, rich in Omega 3, high in Protein (complete Protein no less) & both insoluble & soluble Fiber, an amazing Anti~Oxidant & will fuel your body with sustainable Energy!

Pumpkin Seeds~ These delish Green seeds are really high in Iron, Zinc & Phorsphorus. Pretty high in Protein & a wonderful source of Fiber, a handful a day is extremely beneficial!

Sunflower Seeds~ These tiny wonder seeds are full of B Vitamins, Iron, Zinc, & Vitamin E! Try to buy them Raw as the Roasted ones tend to be rancid by the time you get them.

A few to Review

On a visit to Parksville & Qualicum Beach in December while looking for our New Forever Home ‘Town’, we stumbled into a busy Christmas Craft sale. Thinking it was the perfect way to meet some locals & get some Xmas Shopping done we went right in.

Right away we found ‘Free Spirit Botanicals‘ (based right here in Victoria BC) & man was her stuff AMAZING!!!! I am always looking at soaps #1, because I love nice smelling bathroom stuff, & #2 because my youngest has a difficult time finding soap that doesn’t dry & irritate his skin. My first question is always “do you have anything for dry & sensitive skin”? Usually they show me something with too many ingredients, some have even shown me soaps with *gasp* phthalates & parabens! But for my little man I prefer simple natural soaps. The one we choose this time was the Goat’s Milk & Honey. It’s made with 3 basic ingredients ~ 100% salphonated Olive Oil, & it’s a gentle cleanser with the Honey as the moisturizer. There is wheat germ added as an exfoliation & has Vitamin E added. I was worried about the Wheat Germ (because we are gluten intolerant, but so far he’s been fine)!

I personally went for the soap pictured above. The LemonGrass Loofah. I thought it was pretty ingenious to add the Loofah right in the soap, I’ve never seen that before! I have a weird love affair with LemonGrass, & the smell of this one doesn’t disappoint! My hubby also picked up a soap that had Olive, almond, Calendula & palm oils. Ground almond, cinnamon, cloves & turmeric. He smells so manly when he gets outta the shower! The Cinnamon & Cloves especially is nice!

Here’s another Gem that I absolutely love! It’s made by a company called YoungBlood from the USA.

This is a very different, very cool kind of face/body mist that uses: Grapefruit, Lime, Rosemary, Hematite, Malakitte, Rhodolite & Zincite to rejuvenate & protect your skin. I use it throughout the day when I feel like my skin needs a little boost of energy. You know the feeling, when your face & skin feel tired~ that’s when this baby works it’s majick & you feel Refreshed, Restored! They have 3 different mist’s to choose from. I’ve only used the Restore one, but I have to say that it is SO SO nice. I picked it up a while ago when my hubby went off to Brewing School in Europe. Being at home with the kids without him for 3 months was really very hard, but using this spray (when I remembered) was a very nice way to treat myself & get away from the craziness, even if it was short lived!

I have one other product to show you here, but I’m not sure if I love it or if I hate it……. I’ve been using it for 2 weeks now, & funny enough, I’m still not sure. One day I like it, one day I hate it, & one day I love it….. so strange. This one is made my Green Beaver.

It’s one of their many different toothpastes. Toothpastes, just like Rice Milk, Peanut Butter, Dried Currants, & Candles, we just can’t seem to keep enough of in our house. I’m not quite sure why, but I’m always going out to get more. My kids usually ask for a new flavour, & it’s getting hard to accommodate them. Around here we stick to Fluoride Free, & although that’s getting easier to find, some of the ingredients are still kind of iffy! This one caught my eye because of bright green colour at first, then I noticed that it had Cilantro. Well ~ Cilantro is a love or hate herb. I personally love it, so I thought I would give this paste a try. As it says on the tube, they use real flavours, & it’s true. Everytime I use it, it tastes 100% of Cilantro & Mint & 0% of ToothPaste. Maybe that’s the problem….. I do like the taste, but it doesn’t taste like I’m brushing my teeth……
